Standard: Christmas Holiday

It’s been a while since I last posted. I
wish I had some extravagant reason for this, but it’s really because I haven’t had anything interesting to write about. I have just been staying at home for Christmas in the company of my mother and Hercule Poirot. This is what I’ve been up to…

I have been trying to find a way to help me learn a Prelude & Fugue by Bach. This is the E major one from book II. It looks frantic on the page but this is how I have learned Bach since I was tiny: photocopy and colour and analyse. I don’t know why but I find Bach very, very hard to learn.

Practicing my NYO music. This page of ‘black lines’ is from the 4th movement of the Walton Symphony in Bb minor. I know my part is not as difficult as the 1st violins’, but the whole work is really tricky and fast and I am unable to play that fast for the time being.

And now some things that caught my eye from these past few days.

Oh my, look here! It’s not just any shower cap, it’s a deluxe shower cap. A shower cap of luxury. Hmmm I’m looking forward to seeing this!

This is so exciting! Let’s open it!!

I can see it peeking through! This is the first time I’ve ever seen a DELUXE shower cap.

I can hardly breathe or contain my excitement.

And behold!

…?

…..??

…….what is this? A normal shower cap. Not laden with crystals or woven with silk?

I feel cheated. Deceived.

Oh well. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas. Here is an example of my style of wrapping presents:

It’s hideous.

There are only 2 nights until the NYO Winter Course, but it’s really a day if you take into account my packing. There’s this unique beat-boxing/body percussion piece by Anna Meredith called Handsfree. The only way we can learn our parts is through videos that the composer posted online. I need to learn that too. I didn’t practice it at school in case someone walked in on me making weird noises and hitting myself.
