Happy Halloween! We celebrated in school with lots of activities and cakes and dressing up.
Unfortunately I was one of three handling the cake-stall and could not take any pictures of the fantastic costumes on show. Baking is always very popular and the stall is always very busy. A few photos from the day:
Yes, I am a panda.
School dining room:
Beautiful spider fairy cakes baked by my friend!
Skulls, eyeballs, brains…
My favourites: the bone meringues! They are beautiful.
I made the cake-stall poster which refused to stick to the wall or the table. Here it is on my bathroom floor i.e. my artist’s studio.
These were the bowls used for the ‘put your hand in the hole in the box and guess what you’re touching’ or the ‘touchy-feely’ game. The managers of this activity were very creative with their mixtures…
More pictures in the dining room…
And of course, the two pandas! We actually won a prize for best effort which was utterly undeserved – there were people who stayed up till midnight yesterday making their costumes and I simply smeared some waxy paint on my face and twisted up my hair.
Yesterday, a bunch of people from school performed at the Scottish Parliament to celebrate 40 years of the school. I didn’t take any photos of the event in particular. I also went a separate way from the group so that I could return a library book (yeah, cool story bro) and arrived there a little earlier than the rest. But I did sit down to eat an almond croissant and drink jasmine tea!
The receipt, just to prove that I bought it from there.
We played in Committee Room 1. I have to say, the interior design is more interesting than the exterior. From outside, you are unable to see the unique shapes of the rooms, the angles of the ceilings and the strange dimensions. Our performance space was a little strange, if you can imagine:
The seats in the foreground had been moved to the sides of the table to create some sort of audience space; the performers occupied this emptied area. At least we didn’t have to go into the middle of the table.
Senior String Ensemble, early music, brass solo, clarsach background music, choristers, solo woodwind were amongst the performers.
Anyway, I have a mock interview tomorrow and I don’t think blogging really helps me prepare for that… Goodnight! Hope everyone had a fun night of trick-or-treating and dressing up.
